So I'm creating a recipe blog - -just for my own use and for my family (no link here -- it's attached to REAL me -- instead of SFP-me)
and it's like a trip down memory lane -- I can't help but remember wonderful parties that we threw -- or birthdays that we celebrated with special cakes
or the Lemon Chess Pie I made last week
As I unpack boxes of recipe books and find my scribbled notes -- I keep thinking about recipes that I've lost through the years -- and I want to make sure that doesn't happen again.
Another copy online should help that.
and maybe maybe maybe I'll find that recipe for that amazing carrot cake I used to make
oh
and the pineapple upside down cake
and
and
and
in the meantime --
happy cooking!
Amazing how foods trigger memories, isn't it? I would kill for my mother's old box.

yum. I love food blogs.
ReplyDeleteI make lemon chess pie .. the recipes have to be pretty close since there aren't many of them. My son always wanted one instead of a birthday cake~~yum~~
ReplyDeleteSure.
ReplyDeleteToy with us.
Tell us all about this blog full of yummy recipes that we won't be invited to.
It's ok.
Really.
;-)
That does seem like kind of a cruel tease, Sfp, for all those people out there who like cooking... just saying.

What makes it chess pie?
ReplyDelete@Aisha -- yeah -- I'm a tease.
ReplyDelete@Sin -- Wikipedia says that it might come from the idea of a "pie chest" shortened by us southerners to chess -- but hard to say. It's a lovely custardy lemony pie -- that's super duper easy to make.
