Goddamnmotherfuckingshitfuck!

So -- I'm getting ready for the family invasion on Tuesday

and what do I do?

what do you ask me?

I spill

an entire bottle

a LARGE bottle

of screenprinting dye

on my carpet

black dye

BLACK

and do I realize I've done this right away?

no

I don't

and it soaks in

so I go out and buy a spotbot

not so I can repair the carpet

because the carpet is fucked

but so I can get enough dye out

so when I put an area rug over it

it won't sop into the rug

and ruin it too

fuck

PS -- so I went out and bought a spotbot -- and I have to tell you -- it got up an HUGE amount of the stain -- not it all -- but an enormous amount -- don't get me wrong -- the carpet is ruined.  But if you are a normal person and have a normal stain -- let's say -- an entire pot of chili or something -- or if a great dane gets sick on your rug -- I'm sure it would get it up....not dye -- but normal stains -- so I highly recommend it.

  1. I feel like this needs a Post Post Script:

I finally told M what I did. He told me to move on. People make mistakes. I've done my best -- and to go to bed.

Because yes-- I was crying over my carpet.

    He's a good man.

  2. Maybe your family could help you shop for a throw rug?

Nobody's house is perfect you know...

  3. It never fails that something like this happens at the worst time. M is right though...it is what it is and you have done your best to get it up. Continuing to be overly upset won't change anything. As long as you have done your best, that's all you can do. Learn to laugh about it and move on. :)

  4. @Sin -- Hell no. Hiding it from the family. I have something to put over the spot as soon as it dries.

@DV -- Thank you. Sometimes we need someone to tell us it's ok to move on.

  5. I was going to suggest rearranging the furniture but you got it covered! Lol. And yeah, spotbots are a good thing.

    Breathe now.

  6. I would have cried too. Logically, when I think about it, it seems silly to cry over a carpet, but I would have cried a lot. I've cried over lesser things. Good thing you have a rug to put over the stain. And good thing to know about spotbots!

  7. I can only imagine how you must have felt :(.

It will be okay. Cover it up and deal with it after the holidays. Enjoy your time with your family and have a nice Thanksgiving. Sending you a hug.

    Take care. Sky

  8. Wow I want to ask so many questions!

    Sorry you got upset.

What shape was the stain? Can you sell the carpet as an artwork?

Is a spotbot what I think it is? A kind of robot?

Dig the new theme. Is the white on black just for this post?

  9. Just please tell me there aren't hard-wood floors underneath...

  10. To everyone except JZ -- thank you so much for the support.

To Jz -- thanks for pouring gasoline on the fire

    :)

kidding. I really was torturing myself over this.

The irony is - if it were floors -- it would come right up. Screenprinting dye won't stick to a hard surface unless you apply heat. carpet? -- sticks like crazy -- but floors would have cleaned right up.

Moving the furniture -- under orders from M to put a piece of furniture over it - NOT a carpet -- to reduce the self-flagelation of peeking at it to rub salt in my own wounds. (hmm -- how many g's are there in flagelation? flaggelation? -- ok -- I give up)

  11. Well, I've done a similar thing.
    With hair dye.
On rugs that had, you got it, hard wood floors beneath them.

So I actually do feel your pain.
I was just gauging the extent! ;-p
