Day 2 in the land of Aisha

Aisha really does live in a wonderful city

but then again -- I really get to see it mostly from her vantage point.

So to me
it's liberal
with a congenial bdsm community
and filled with art
and architecture and funky restaurants

There's this wonderful reclaimed space -- it used to be a slaughterhouse -- and now it's space that's been divided into tiny art studios

We heard someone tell a possible tenant that it's $1/sf per month -- most of the spaces around 160sf

A bargain -- to be able to have a space to create art
and not have to pack it up each day

I spend more time cleaning up from art and crafts than constructing it sometimes.

It made me itch to paint in such a space

the studios were mostly closed up on friday -- but we could peer into each little glass room
and see their space and creations

peeping toms

the rest of the pace is all ducting and exposed brick -- with random stairwells going up and down in escheresque fashion.

I bought a bracelet from a vendor on the bottom floor as a keepsake

last night we went to the local munch
the faces familiar now
a friendly group -- surprised that I don't belong to the group where I live
and shocked that I show no interest in it

where I live the group is all play all the time
and not my scene

and again -- I think of how much my view of here -- is based on the tiny portion that I see -- and that Aisha shows me -- her world view.

and a lovely view it is.

  1. It's so interesting, your comment about seeing the city from her point of view - if you came to my city you'd see it from my point of view... liberal, arty, filled with bookstores and culture, and uummm okay pretty suburban.

Do you think you'd feel different about the munch in your area if you tried it again with someone? Or maybe you have?

  2. Hi Sin -- somehow I don't think so -- I think that the local scene would still feel like a meat market.....it's what they have chosen for it to be

    shrugs

    each group to their own
and it's lovely to visit here.

  3. I love the idea of $1 s/f for artists...how wonderful. And the tea room in the city is fabulous and new-agey wonderful. And the small "Adult" shop where I had my first experience in an adult store, and acted like a 3 year old with Aisha, giggling over dildos....amusing the man behind the counter, who gamely showed us how each of our vibes worked...ah, good memories there!
