I was reading an article today about depression due to the end of summer.
hard to imagine here where the end of summer is hearalded by the advent of 96 degree days -- down from 108.
under symptoms it listed: the desire to sleep more than usual, comfort eating, a decline in hygiene.
and um
that sort of describes my labor day
does that make me depressed?
well -- maybe a bit
I had nothing to do this weekend
and it did sort of bum me out
but mostly?
I was just lazy
I get depressed when summer starts, not ends. The heat just saps my strength. Then when fall comes, it's like a revitalization.
ReplyDeleteI think it's good for us to have lazy times. The occasional day where I piddle around all day and don't even take a shower.
ReplyDeleteAnd I do tend to get depressed in the winter - not in the fall though. Much as I love summer, fall is energizing. We went from 100 degree temps to 65 - quite a drop. I know our 100 degrees in probably not as bad as yours, but now I kinda feel like I"m freezing...lol

It is crazy that 93 degrees feels like Fall, but that has been my reaction to the end of our triple digit heat wave. And Fall always invigorates me. My favorite day of the year is when I walk outside and finally feel that first bit of crisp cool air. So now I am living in expectation of that day. It is invigorating.
ReplyDeleteit is currently 59 degrees at 830 a.m. (and it's raining like furies, too)....so it's dramatically cooler, tho we didn't have all that hot a summer in the Northeast.
ReplyDeleteBut i do have SAD. Don't do the lights, or any of that stuff. I walk, i go to bed early, and i write.
Sept. is worst because it is the most dramatic decline of daylight of all the months (didja know that?)...it levels off some in October, or at least doesn't go quite as quickly...and i'm usually fine by then.
But i did think i wasn't taking a shower every day coz its been pretty dang chilly these last few days....*grin*

I'm with King of Clubs... summer is my least favorite time of year, and fall is my favorite. I really do feel invigorated by the cooler weather.
