Maybe it's friendship baklava?

I have a local restaurant I love

where I live
there are way too many franchise restaurants

I like to eat at the local joints
but there aren't that many of them
and it's hard for them to compete.

I've found this little place -- it's greek and cajun.

yeah

weird

I don't like the cajun
but it's Greek        and      cajun
not greekcajun

so I can live with it

these two brothers run it
and it's usually pretty quiet when I go on a Thursday night

the baby and I eat a nice dinner
and I usually have enough left over for a nice lunch the next day.

and they make this amazing soup
all homemade

they've sort of taken me under their wing -
whenever I come in he announces that he will bring me something special
and I always love it.

My mom teases me that he has a crush on me
which I think is just silly

I look terrible all the time now
no makeup
bags under my eyes
sometimes a bit of spit up on my shirt

I mean -- I even have a tiny baby -- I mean -- what's better man-repellant than that???

yeaaaaaah

except today I ended up with a free to-go package
soup to go
and a little baklava

shit

sigh

Damn my wild animal attraction
another restaurant ruined for me.

  1. Hi sfp - I shouldn't worry too much, I don't think the writing's really on the wall until he slips you a few mezes to seal the deal.

  2. Funny girl... i don't think you have to be done with the restaurant. In those types of circumstances, my advice is to refuse to consider any possibility of anything other than him being a nice, friendly guy.

Mention your boyfriend occasionally. Or - don't laugh - tell him he's like a brother to you, and how much you appreciate that.

Talk about how nice it is to be able to be friends and know that he's not looking for anything else. Some such crap. You may not get more freebies but you'll get to keep the restaurant.

    Just a thought.

    1. I agree with Aisha - it would be a shame to lose a restaurant you like.

  3. Maybe they just like the baby and want a happy customer?
