Lows and Highs

Yes
yesterday was a low point
I let myself get really run down
really exhausted

I was dirty
and cranky

but then
I got some sleep
and changed my routine

and today is a new day

M and I got to catch up
not at our usual time
which has now been replaced by a lack of consciousness on my part
but around an hour later I texted and he was up
and we had a lovely chat

I need to buy a crib
and a changing table

and my to do list grows and grows

but I feel up
high on motherhood
high on a relationship with a man who really supports me
high on a family who has gathered around me to lift me up
high on friends (yes you guys are in there too) who comfort me in low moments

I am truly
truly blessed

  1. That is the great thing about days.

There is always a new one tomorrow.

Glad you are in better spirits with all those who support you cheering you along the way.

PS. That to do list- well it never stops.
    Thank goodness for sticky pads!

  3. so my other advice is, always have a shower. Some days I used to have it when the baby was screaming. Once I had determined that he was clean, fed and not uncomfortable, when he was just crying cause he needed to cry, I'd go and shower, and if he was still crying 5-15 minutes later when I came out of the shower, at least I was clean and he was that much further down the road towards stopping.

  4. @faithful -- yes -- tomorrow is always a new day

@Mouse -- lol -- yes -- I have a date with my parents to go shop -- Mom is um -- well -- short -- so I want to make sure she can manage whatever crib I get without needing a stool.

@sin -- are you saying that I smell? -- huh? -- I'm hurt. Yes -- I need a shower -- I didn't get one today -- choosing instead to sleep when I could -- but tomorrow I must shower -- or the neighbors will picket my house until I do

  5. Yes...I'm with sin on this one...showering is like a little victory during the day. I never shower at the same time, even these days...And call me stinky, cos there are often days at a time when I'm so busy there just ISN'T time to fit one in. I finally got one this evening...after two days painting chores, I stunk. That and sleeping are the two best things you can do for yourself.

Well, that and baking bread! :)

  6. nope, I just recall someone saying to me, when I was a brand new mom, "some days I didn't even get a shower." And I resolved that I'd at least manage a shower. And mostly I did. Mostly. The neighbours won't picket btw. I'm sure they'll think you are doing a great job.

  7. Just keep hanging in there. Shower, don't shower. Sleep, or walk around in a coma. This too will pass. Glad you're feeling better for the moment! Hope it lasts for a bit.
