ReplyDeletei actually went to an on-line thesaurus, just to look. Lots of meanings for ball, lots of synonyms, not one that works. Not orbs, not globs, not globules, not rockets, not...
Maybe i should quit procrastinating writing my own post and come back later. Thanks for starting me down this path, Sfp.

Maybe its from a childhood spent whacking balls around with bats? Balls denote rough play, yet *those* round orbs are delicate...
